My Darkness

the darkness falls upon another empty day

In the sun I sit, with nothing left to say

I've asked so many times

so many times denied

I close my eyes

and cry inside

basking in the warmth

of my darkness

short distances cast lengthy shadows

midnight sun casts an eerie glow

nothing left of my former shell now

perhaps it is time, time to go

I close my eyes

and cry out loud

Shaking in the heat

of my darkness

Mental pictures distort reality

My lenses need to be aligned

Forgiven sins keep erupting

Nothing can save me this time

I close my eyes

and open my heart

bleeding dreams of hope

of my darkness

hope can blind you

to what you really see

it can twist the facts

and warp reality

So I close my eyes

and twist reality

I close my eyes

Open my bleeding soul

I close my eyes

and truly see

my darkness
